David is an excellent teacher. I have had my guitar about five years and had lessons previously. From the moment I met David I felt at ease and relaxed. He allows me to go at my own pace. I'm a mature pupil and I can't praise David enough.

I have been learning guitar with Dave for around 7 years now, the quality of the teaching is better than anywhere else I have been. Dave is always willing to explain anything and will try to tailor the lesson towards your music taste, no matter how niche it may be. I highly recommend String Fingers for anyone wanting to learn guitar, from the complete beginner to a more advanced level.

I have been playing guitar with Dave for 2/3 years and, I have never had a tutor who made playing the guitar so easy. He makes me feel more confident in playing and making music. as well as opening up to a wider range of music to play, he also motivates you to learn more. I hope to have Dave as a tutor for as long as possible :). I would recommend him for everyone and anyone no matter if you're a beginner or a well experienced guitarist.

I started my guitar lessons when I was 10 years old and have been attending lessons for just over a year now and im loving every second of it. David always makes these lessons really comfortable for me and relaxing when im struggling to do things. He has taught me loads over the year and his lessons are always fun. He asks me what music I like and then helps me learn those songs. I hope to keep going until I can play the guitar like David can :-)

I came across Dave's site when I was searching for a local acoustic guitar teacher, having exhausted the patience of my other half, who had taught me the basics before throwing me at the mercy of a professional.  Dave's site seemed friendly and welcoming, which I was pleased to see was the case with Dave in person (I was also pleased to see that he is not in fact 12 years old as his picture suggests)!  ...  Dave is passionate about music and helping others to learn - with the patience of a saint and unflappable in the face of tears and tantrums.  I was really nervous at first and Dave really put me at ease, finding fun ways to teach theory and often adjusting lessons according to my interests.  If you are very very good you might be rewarded with a visit from Oscar the dog!  ...  I have very much enjoyed my lessons and would not hesitate to recommend Dave to anyone - whether to an outright beginner or to experienced players looking to expand on their skills.  I've had so much fun and learned so much along the way, and it's been a privilege to play with such an accomplished musician and all-round great guy.  I'll even forgive him for being a massive Coldplay fan (no-one's perfect)!

By far the best guitar tuition available! Affordable, professional! And very beneficial! I've played guitar for a long time! I decided to start a tuition to further my skills and within a few weeks I was picking up my speed playing and learning riffs I thought I'd never be able to play! Dave also is a great help out of the classroom to! Always handy to text for advice on buying new equipment!

My daughter attends a weekly lesson with David and loves it. She started when she was 8 years old and has been attending for a year and a half. She started as a complete novice but from the first lesson David had her playing chords. David makes sure the lessons are a fun and relaxed way of learning and incorporates her music tastes to encourage her. I would highly recommend String Fingers to anyone looking for guitar lessons.

I taught myself guitar for 6 months or so, but decided I could only progress further by taking lessons, so my Dad found String Fingers in September 2011, and I could tell in my first lesson that David was a good teacher. His style of teaching is relaxed, in the sense that he is patient and helpful, whilst including and explaining all important aspects of theory and playing in memorable ways. Every lesson is different - whether it's theory, composition or playing something familiar, it's always interesting. I've also experienced recording, trying settings on amps, and playing both electric and acoustic (and learning different techniques/ embellishments). I would definitely recommend String Fingers to anyone, as I have learnt so much and improved massively through David's guidance and teaching, he is a talented musician, and I feel that's helpful for anyone wanting to progress with ANY aspect of music! I'm thoroughly enjoying my lessons, and always have.

I cannot recommend Dave highly enough. Just book a lesson and find out for yourself! You'll be amazed how your appreciation of music and the guitar will flourish over time. I was in a guitar playing rut prior to starting lessons with him about a year ago but since then I've been making good progress week by week. Dave always provides enjoyable and fun lessons that are tailored to your needs, likes and ability, but are also (cunningly) designed to stretch you a little and introduce you to new techniques and styles. Lessons may involve creating your own music in addition to playing familiar pieces and these sessions are always surprising in addition to being great fun.

Dave is an excellent guitar teacher as well as brilliant musician. I had always wanted to learn to play guitar but never got round to it, so after a few emails exchanged my first lesson was booked. I would class myself as an absolute beginner and never had any idea about playing the guitar. Dave has already taught me many wonders of this great instrument and I know there is still a lot more to learn. The teaching methods Dave uses are great as he allows you to develop at your own pace whilst making everything you do enjoyable at the same time. He is extremely flexible to your tastes in music and encourages you to try many different things. After approx 10 weeks I have learnt 20 chords and can play a couple of my favorite songs by Oasis and Stereophonics. It is a fantastic feeling knowing you are improving week by week and an even better feeling when you can go away and show friends and family what you can do. I am determined to keep at it which is down to my own personal drive and Dave's constant encouragement. I hope to headline the V Festival next year (only the campsite though Dave! Haha).

I bought a guitar in September 2009 and thought I could learn to play with tutorial books. No way! My guitar became a dusty ornament and was 'gently weeping'! I discovered David's excellent website and commenced lessons 5 weeks ago. I really enjoy David's style and methods of teaching. He makes each lesson really interesting by varying the material he gives you. I always leave each lesson feeling motivated and wanting to practice, practice, practice. It's hard and my finger tips are calloused, but I'm loving it and know that I'm improving each week. I would highly recommend David as a teacher, he has a very professional attitude and a natural aptitude to teach. Excellent value as well. My guitar is out of the closet!!!

David's lesson's are well organised and easy going, I look forward to going every week. I live 20 miles away from David but this isn't a problem as I enjoy them so much. You go at your own pace, and learn whatever songs you like, and everything is prepared before you get there so you don't waste any time. I would not hesitate to recommend David to anyone.

The lessons are easy going and fun, along with a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I've found I've learned at a super quick rate. One thing that I really noticed was how organised and professionally set out the lessons are. All progress is recorded in a separate folder so there's no time wasted at the start of the lesson trying to figure out where we left off. You receive a folder and many handouts, some of which cannot be found on the net. All e-mails are answered swiftly and Dave has a flexible approach to arranging lessons and is understanding of lesson changes etc. Another great thing is the appointment cards (as I can easily forget hehe) and a small list of things to practice for next time, so I'm always ready for the next lesson.

I'd played when I was much younger, and only knew a few chords and little songs, but the several lessons I've had so far with David has shown me the wonders of guitar and how much I've still got to learn. Overall, David is a friendly and relaxed teacher, and I thoroughly enjoy every lesson.

I contacted Dave a couple of months ago, as at the grand old age of 44 I'd decided I wanted to learn electric guitar, but was a total beginner. The first thing that got my attention was the very professional website, and after a couple of emails and a call I had my first lesson booked. As the previous reviewer said the teaching style is very relaxed and as a starting point is focused on what song/style/technique interests you most. The lessons are great fun, and you also start to pick up the basics of musical theory. I'm really pleased at the progress I've made and would highly recommend Dave to anyone who is looking to learn to play guitar.

I would count myself as an absolute beginner. Been wanting to play guitar for years but with no obvious talent I have held back. Dave has a very relaxed style of teaching that is based around what I want to do whilst also explaining the theory and practice. It is early days but with practice, the weekly homework and Dave's guidance I am beginning to sound tuneful at times. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dave to anyone thinking of learning to play guitar, he is a talented musician who can also teach.
